Robbins' Nest Inn Mysteries
CHARACTER INTERVIEWS
INTERVIEW WITH LORALIN ROBBINS 22/3/2026
Q: What’s your role in Elk River—and what do people think you do?
A: I am well known in Elk River, not only as a former Real Estate broker, but as the ex-wife of the town's lead detective and as a nosy amateur sleuth. I am also well known for my friendship/relationship with a much younger man. As for what people think I do, well, I guess they think I obsess too much over my inn and that I prey on young (but legal) men.
Q: What is something you lied about recently?
A: I don't usually lie, but before I opened my inn, I told my business partner George that I would consider giving him a room in my cottage as part of his pay package instead of a room in the inn. He wouldn't shut up about it, and I needed to get on with our meeting, so it just burst out. I had no intention of giving him any room other than the one I have set aside for him on the fourth floor at the end of the hall.
Q: What's one thing you would never change about your life?
A: Honestly, I don't think I would change anything about my life. A While back, when the scandal about Devin was at its peak, my friend Rhonda asked if I sometimes wished I'd never met him. There is no way I would ever wish that. He saved me. He showed me respect when no one else did. He encouraged me when everyone else was telling me how ridiculous I was being.
Q: What’s your go-to comfort drink or meal?
A: Well, it's not a meal exactly. When I'm sad, angry, or any other emotion, I turn to ice cream. There's nothing quite like sitting over an internet video call with your best friend while you both drown your sorrows over some ice cream.
Q: What would you be arrested for… if not murder?
A: That's a hard one. I do have a bit of a temper even if it takes forever for me to get to the point of thinking about violence. I think if I'm ever arrested it will be for the assault and battery of my ex-husband. We still get along well and I even consider him a friend but if anybody is going to get me worked up enough to lash out physically, it will be Miles. It's definitely a good thing that we got divorced.
Q: What would your best friend say about you?
A: Devin would say that I am a crazy, nosy old lady who has creaky knees and achy joints but is still a firecracker in the sack.
INTERVIEW WITH DEVIN WENTWORTH 22/3/2026
Q: What’s your biggest secret that hasn’t come out… yet?
A: As a kid, nobody noticed I had ADHD. When I was in my 20s, Loralin noticed and talked me into going to the doctor to get diagnosed.
Q: What’s one thing everyone in town gets wrong about you?
A: I worry that everyone in town thinks that I'm after Loralin's money. I didn't even know how much she had until after we were married. I thought she was in debt with the inn renovations and operations.
Q: What’s your favorite local spot—and why?
A: The Bar on County Road between Elk River and Boone has the best chicken wings I've ever tasted. I could go there with Loralin every night.
Q: What small habit drives other people crazy?
A: I would say it's probably screaming at the TV while I'm playing a video game. Is that considered a small habit, though?
Q: What rumor about you is actually true?
A: That I only like older women. I guess it's kinda true. I even dated Lisa Marie after I arrived in Elk River.
Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?
A: Honestly, I love watching documentaries. All my mates and teachers back home would be shocked to hear that.
INTERVIEW WITH MILES ROBBINS 22/3/2026
Q: What’s your role in Elk River—and what do people think you do?
A: I am the lead detective in the investigative division of the Elk River, Wyoming, Police Department. People think I am the cop to go to for everything. I am no longer in charge of family disputes, parking disputes, speeding tickets, and about a hundred other things. It's great to be needed, but we have a full department of highly qualified officers to help on every occasion.
Q: What’s your biggest secret that hasn’t come out… yet?
A: I was more hurt from the divorce from Loralin than anyone knew. I really didn't want it to happen, but I couldn't let the mother of my children go on being unhappy. Now, I think it was the best thing that could have happened. I adore my wife, Meredith, and I know I never could have competed with Devin. He completes Loralin in ways I never did.
Q: If you had to swap lives with someone in town, who would it be?
A: I think I would swap lives with Mark Wentworth, Devin's father. I always wanted to have a green thumb and be Mr. Fixit, but I just wasn't very good at stuff like that. I swear that man can do anything with a plant and build anything under the sun. You should see the work he did on the little house he lives in.
Q: Who in town do you have unfinished business with?
A: Well, if you had asked me back in 2023, I would have said Don Peterson. I hated that man and wanted to one-up him every chance I got. But when he moved back here and took over as Chief of Police, It all didn't seem to matter anymore. I consider him a friend now.
Q: What's in your pocket right now?
A: Let's take a look. I have my wallet, two quarters and a nickel, some lint, and a candy bar wrapper. In my other pocket, I have a charm that my wife bought me for our wedding. I carry it with me everywhere.
Q: What’s one thing you’d never change about your life?
A: I would never change getting married to Loralin because it gave me my biggest blessing, our girls, Heather and Hanna.
